Circus West was formed in late 1993 as a Performance Unit within Dubbo West Public School. As such, it was an extension for talented children coming out of school's Circus programs run during sport and lunchtimes since 1991.

The role of Circus West is to provide opportunities for performers in Dubbo West Public and Dubbo District High Schools; to assist other schools in their initiation of Circus programs; and to advertise the advantages of Circus in Education.

Circus at Dubbo West provides a structured, levels based program teaching stilts, unicycle, juggling, balance, diabolo, clown and acrobatics.

In 2001 Circus West will produce Storm Warning, a show on behalf of the Environmental Protection Authority and the Dubbo City Council. It examines issues related to storm water pollution within a Circus context. The show was cast in November 2000, and will go on the road in May 2001.
